The inaugural HEAVY HITTER designation is given to the Boogie Woogie rhythm covered by countless musicians across multiple styles such as Swing, New Orleans early R&B, Ska, and Rock n Roll.

James Brown came close to claiming the crown for the top HEAVY HITTER, but even his influential stack of tunes couldn’t bring down the Boogie Woogie. Mr Brown’s impact is certainly immeasurable. And this recognition naturally extends to his rhythm section, Clyde Stubblefield, Jabo Stark, Bernard Odum, Fred Thomas, Bootsy Collins, to name just a few.
